BRÜNING AROUND THE WORLD: FAIRS IN RETROSPECT

The past month has been an eventful one for the Brüning Group, as we took part in numerous fairs and conferences around the world. The individual events focused on the latest developments in the fields of biomass, sustainable energy supply, and innovative technologies in this sector. Our employees used the platforms on site to exchange ideas with other international experts, discover new solutions and further expand the Brüning network.

5 TO 6 FEBRUARY: BIO360 EXPO IN NANTES, FRANCE

Starting off with the Bio360 Expo in Nantes, which attracted more than 5,000 visitors from 45 countries, over 450 exhibitors and more than 200 speakers. This international fair was a platform for innovation and networking in the field of bioenergy. Rafaël Bindernagel, Business Development Manager France, and Lamine Dieng, Purchasing & Sales for the French-speaking market, were on site to represent the Brüning Group. ‘The Bio360 Expo offered a prime opportunity to meet existing and potential partners. We actively used the time at the fair to engage in valuable market discussions and have already been able to develop initial business opportunities,’ Lamine reports enthusiastically on his experiences.

12 TO 13 FEBRUARY: LIGNOFUELS IN HELSINKI, FINLAND

The Lignofuels conference in Helsinki gathered a large number of global stakeholders from the biofuels, aviation, and chemical industries to discuss the latest developments in advanced biofuels. The focus was on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), for which demand is steadily growing due to EU regulations: airlines are increasingly looking for bio-based alternatives to traditional fuels in order to meet their climate targets. ‘For us at the Brüning Group, it was an excellent opportunity to position ourselves as a strategic partner in contributing to achieving these climate goals and ensuring a sustainable supply of resources. We were able to establish valuable initial contacts and identify initial approaches for possible collaboration,’ states Marc Gaber, our International Business Development Manager for new customer groups.

20 TO 21 FEBRUARY: GREEN CEMENT & CONCRETE INNOVATION EUROPE 2025 IN LONDON, UK

The Green Cement & Concrete Innovation Europe was all about decarbonisation in cement and concrete production – for example, by increasing the biogenic content in industry. This conference provided us with the opportunity to establish ourselves as a partner in a new market for us. Considering the available resources, we see great potential and are open to new business opportunities in industries that are new to us,’ comments Marc, who also represented us at this event.

24 TO 26 FEBRUARY: ARGUS BIOMASS CONFERENCE ASIA IN SINGAPORE

At the Argus Biomass Conference Asia in Singapore, Svenja Bätz, Director of International Business Development, Dean Scanlan, Team Lead Pellets International, and Frank Grischkat, Head of the Unit Pellets, gained valuable insights into the Asian biomass markets. It was particularly insightful to discover that the definition of biomass in Asian countries differs greatly from our understanding in Europe. While we primarily use the ressource wood, agricultural residues such as rice and nut shells or empty fruit husks play a central role in Asia. Co-firing with coal remains an essential part of the energy supply in Asia. Although Asia is still in the early stages of decarbonisation, interest in biomass as a sustainable energy source is also growing here. ‘We are always working to gain an even better understanding of the global biomass market in order to better comprehend and utilise material flows. We took a big step towards this goal at the Argus Biomass Conference Asia in Singapore,’ explains Svenja.

25 TO 26 FEBRUARY: 8TH BIOMASS TRADE & POWER EUROPE IN COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

The 8th Biomass Trade & Power Europe, an international fair for wood chips and pellets, marked the end of a successful month of events. This year’s focus was on sustainability and the current global situation in the pellet market. Alongside more than 100 other participants, Dorota Piernicka, Business Development Manager for Poland, and Kevin Sammann, Head of the Unit Fresh Wood Biomass, were in Copenhagen to learn about current trends and developments as well as to network. ‘The trade fair provided an ideal platform for deepening existing partnerships and strategically expanding our international network,’ Kevin summarises after the event.

A VISION OF A GREENER FUTURE

Every fair, conference, and dialogue has given us valuable insights into the latest developments in the industry and allowed us to actively contribute to shaping the solutions of tomorrow. We look forward to implementing the knowledge we have gained in specific projects and continuing to lead the way in the field of biomass for bioenergy. Of course, we can only do this together with you – so get in touch with our contact persons and exchange ideas with us!

This is how our journey continues: next month, we will be represented at the Hannover Messe, the Argus Biomass Conference in London and the energate forum ‘Industry meets Energy’ in Essen, among many other events. Seize the opportunity to meet us there. Let’s enable a greener future together!
